The Rendez-vous in Monaco

The exclusive meeting of international superyacht owners

Organised by Boat International Media, in collaboration with the Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM) and SYBAss (the Superyacht Builders Association), The Rendezvous in Monaco which took place between the 23rd and the 26th June 2011, once again proved that the Principality of Monaco clearly remains one of the favourite destinations of yacht owners.

A fleet of 11 of the world’s finest superyachts between 27 and 64-metres lined up along the Quai des Etats-Unis to participate in this annual event which brings together owners and their guests, offering them a tailor-made programme, full of both nautical and social events.

A welcome cocktail on Thursday evening, under the Presidency of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, whose attendance gave him an opportunity to meet with owners onboard their yachts, marked the start of a series of events, including a Poker Run by tender, organised by the YCM in collaboration with the Société
Des Bains de Mer, the Rendezvous Cocktail Competition which took place along side the Chefs’ Competition, as well as the ‘Cruise in Company’, a magical sight, seeing the fleet cruise from Monaco to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, and of course the latest addition to this year’s events programme, the ‘Twilight Cruise in Company’ to the Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel, an idea which was put forward by some of the yacht owners in attendance at last year’s event.

“For more than 20 years, this event has been firmly fixed in Monaco‘s calendar, truly dedicated to yacht owners, this gathering gives them an opportunity not only to enjoy themselves onboard their yachts, but also to discover the full range of activities that the Principality of Monaco has to offer. Thanks to the‘La Belle Classe’ label we are able to support yacht owners in their yachting experience and unite them around our shared values ; that of protecting l’Art de Vivre at sea, a value which is so dear to the Yacht Club de Monaco.” Bernard d’Alessandri, General Secretary of the Yacht Club de Monaco commented. “It is with this in mind that the “Art de Vivre La Belle Classe Superyacht Moët & Chandon” prize was awarded by a jury comprised of representatives from the Yacht Club de Monaco, Boat International Media and Möet & Chandon to Mr and Mrs Savatore Trifiro, the owners of S/Y Zefira, a 50-metre sailing yacht ; designed by Dubois Naval Architects and built at the end of 2010 in New Zealand by Fitzroy Yachts.”.

This prize is based on the three following criteria :
·         The owner’s approach and yachting philosophy (number of hourse spent onboard, use of the yacht…)
·         Respect for etiquette
·         Behaviour of the yacht crew for the durantion of the four-day event (behaviour ; quality of greeting…)

“Sport, elegance and beauty are all key features of this unforgettable event, organised in a royal setting”  Mr Trufiro, shareholder of the prestigious Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, declared upon receiving his award. “We are very proud to have received this prize and it truly translates our life philosophy: simplicity, class and elegance ! ”.

In addition to the above, Tony Harris, CEO of Boat International Media proudly announced the winners of the other competitions, namely, the Cocktail Competition which was won by Adam Aldum of M/Y Go, for his cocktail named ‘Pink Granade’, and equally the Chefs’ Competition which saw an award go to S/Y Volare Ancora, represented by Rocco Finocchiaro, Scott Jamison of M/Y Go also received a special mention.
